Proposed Granger Bay Development at the V&A Waterfront

V&A Waterfront Holdings (Pty) Ltd proposes to establish shore protection works, including two new breakwaters forming a sheltered bay and associated reclamation of land from the sea. The proposal would provide for increased public access along this section of the V&A Waterfront shoreline, as well as new mixed-use development. The proposed developments will occur on Erf 173712 and a portion of Erf 149294, Granger Bay Precinct, Cape Town.

The project requires an environmental authorisation, and Infinity Environmental (Pty) Ltd has been appointed by the applicant to undertake the Scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process required in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (Act 107 of 1998) (NEMA).

 Final Scoping Report for the Proposed Granger Bay Development at the V&A Waterfront

Focus Group Meeting for Ocean Users 

As part of this process, the Environmental Assessment Practitioner invites ocean users who use the Oceana Power Boat Club slipway and the Granger Bay Ocean Area to a focus group meeting to learn more about the proposals and give input on the functional requirements and use of the new slipway and the new bay by small craft. The professional team will present information on the project, followed by a Q&A session. Please see the focus group meeting details below.

We are required by the EIA Regulations, GNR 326 of 2017 and the National Environmental Management Act to maintain a register of interested and affected parties including of people who have commented, attended meetings, or requested registration.   • A copy of any comments submitted; and
  • Details of any interest declared in the granting or refusal of the application.
