Notice of Environmental Authorisation for the Proposed Strandfontein Coastal Urban Node

Dear Registered Interested and Affected Party,

You are hereby notified that the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (DEA&DP) has granted Environmental Authorisation and approved the Environmental Management Programme for the Proposed Strandfontein Coastal Urban Node Development on a portion of the remainder of erf no. 1212 and erf 2455, Strandfontein in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 and the 2014 Environmental Impact Assessment Regulations (as amended).

The environmental authorisation is dated 13 December 2024 and was issued on the same day

Appeals

You are reminded that an appeal may be lodged against this decision in terms of the National Appeal Regulations 2014 (as amended). A summary of the appeal process is provided in Section H of the Environmental Authorisation (page 9). Should you wish to appeal the decision, you must submit the appeal in writing to the appeal administrator, and copies to the applicant, registered I&APs, organs of state with an interest in the matter, and the decision maker within 20 (twenty) calendar days from the date of this notification.

In accordance with the National Appeals Regulations of 2014, as amended, the period of 15 December to 5 January must be excluded in/from the reckoning of days. Therefore, please not the following key dates for the appeal period process:

  • Day 1 of the 20-day appeal period will commence tomorrow, 14 December 2024.
  • Day 2 of the appeal period will resume on Monday, 6 January 2025.
