Water Use Licence Application for proposed Heineken development on Farm 736/RE, Klapmuts

Heineken Beverages SA (Pty) Ltd has applied for a new water use licence for its proposed agro-industrial and mixed-use development on Farm 736/RE in Klapmuts North, to allow for the abstraction of groundwater. A Water Use Licence application (WULA) has been submitted to the Department of Water and Sanitation in terms of the National Water Act (36 of 1998).

The site is situated on Farm 736/RE, Klapmuts North 

APPLICABLE LEGISLATION

Application for a Water Use License to use water in terms of Section 21(a) of the National Water Act 36 of 1998: taking water from a water resource, supplementing the applicant's existing licence for water uses in terms of Section 21 (c) (e),(f), and (i).

OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE

A public participation process will commence on Thursday 9 May 2024. Infinity Environmental is facilitating the public participation process as required by the National Water Act and the 2017 WULA regulations. Interested and affected parties (I&APs) are invited to register and provide comments. I&APs should refer to the reference number above, and must provide their comments together with their name, contact details (preferred method of notification) and an indication of any direct business, financial, personal, or other interest in which they may have in the application to the contact details indicated below. You may submit comments or objections on the website or to the contact details below, on or before 11 July 2024.

A draft Water Use Licence Application Report is available for public comment between 9 May and 11 July 2024
